Migration of bodies, territories of souls: the origin of a research project

Some research is born from theory. This was born from emotions.

The series Migration of bodies, territories of souls arises from my own migratory experience - not a forced migration for political or social reasons, but a profound transformation that occurs when you decide to live in different spaces, with different people, with cultural experiences that are not your own. A displacement that, although chosen, transforms you from within.

Two spaces, one question

To understand this transformation, I defined two territories that coexist in permanent tension.

The first is the physical body: everything that changes in a person when traveling and inhabiting new places. The way space modifies gestures, habits, rhythms. What the body absorbs without the mind deciding.

The second is the territory of the soul - the space of constant return. That inner point that does not migrate, that remains, is like the point that sustains you. New emotions and new realities are woven around it. It is the anchor from which identity is reconstructed.

The return to the original materials

If the concept called for a return, the materials had to respond the same.

For years I worked with color, drawing, and painting. But this research led me back to something that was always present in my life: fabric and threads. Materials that already carried a personal, familial, almost ancestral memory.

From there I began to explore embroidery, weaving, photography, and new materials that I had previously only allowed myself to use for crafts or manual work. This series is, in part, the act of reclaiming these materials as an artistic language - finding their value as works of art, not as minor crafts.

Migration, then, is not just the theme. It is also the path.
