Lucía Gómez F
— Body, memory, and territory in the pictorial gesture —
A practice born from the body
Lucía Gómez F's artistic practice centers on the exploration of the body as a territory of memory and identity. Through drawing, painting, and the incorporation of materials such as threads, papers, and fragments, her works construct images that emerge from matter and gesture.
The feminine experience as transformation
Her work specifically addresses the feminine experience, understood as a space of transformation where the intimate and the collective intertwine. The figures, often fragmented or reconstructed, evoke personal and cultural memories inscribed in the body.
Territory, displacement, and belonging
In recent series, the artist also investigates the relationships between identity, territory, and displacement, exploring how migrations and life journeys transform the perception of the body and place.
Three ways of inhabiting art
From this practice emerge three expressions that dialogue with each other, like three branches of the same tree:
Original artwork
Canvases and drawings where plastic research finds its purest form. This is where the initial gesture resides, the matter that transforms into an image, the body inscribed on the surface. Each work is a fragment of a broader process: an exploration of identity as a continuous reconstruction.
Wearable artHand-painted bags, fabrics, cushions, and everyday objects. The same textile material that inhabits my works—threads, fabrics, fragments—extends to what accompanies daily life. Each piece is unique: it is born from a drawing, transforms into an object that is touched, used, inhabited. It is my way of understanding that art is not just contemplated: it is also worn, lived, integrated into the small rituals of the day.
Workshops and art therapy
Spaces for shared creation where I accompany others in finding their own process of reconstruction. From my experience as an artist, I propose a journey where drawing, painting, and gesture become tools to explore memory, the body, and identity. It is not about teaching a technique, but about offering a safe space where each person can inhabit their own material, their own fragments, and build from there. The workshops are open to those who feel that art can be a path to self-knowledge, regardless of their prior experience.
Three forms of the same language: art as the reconstruction of identity.
I invite you to explore my original artwork, discover the objects that spring from it, or join a workshop if you feel that art can also be your space for reconstruction. Each form of my work is an open door.
