Cayambe is a work inspired by one of Ecuador's most majestic volcanoes. With its snow-capped peak crossing the equator, the Cayambe volcano has been a constant presence in the artist's life: first as a recurring landscape during her weekends, and now as a distant silhouette visible from her home in Quito.
The painting originates from a photograph taken by the artist, with the desire to capture not only the shape of the volcano, but its essence: its imposing stillness, its light, its silent grandeur. The use of acrylic, with soft and fresh impasto, allows for conveying the clean and crisp atmosphere of the Andean landscape.
